This is awesome! We used the code from your repository and it is flawless. For us in SharePoint 2010, we had to add the HTML comment to our .master page inside our theme. We even customized the icons for our users. Very grateful!

Keep in mind the product does not support IE6. So admin's shouldn't be installing it in an environment that is locked to IE6. This post is geared towards public facing sites. The options are show a message and urge people to upgrade -OR- they can try to use a site that may not work for them in an unsupported browser.

Hi - good point. Let me just add a different edge to this: SharePoint is an Enterprise thing (I guess you knew that ;-) ) and that message shows up at the USER's screen, who in many cases probably would like to smack the person setting up this message, since THEY would LOVE to move to another browser, just "their admins won't let them" (or the likes).

In other words - this message most likely is going to the wrong people.
